UFC 250

UFC 250: The UFC 250 returns Saturday night, highlighted by dual champion and perhaps the greatest female fighter ever in Amanda Nunes, who looks for her first successful featherweight title defense. Things get started with the preliminary card at 7 p.m. with the main card expected to begin at 9 p.m. from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

The UFC returns to Las Vegas for tonight’s UFC 250 pay-per-view event. In the main event bout, two-division UFC champion Amanda Nunes puts her featherweight title on the line against former Invicta FC 145-pound champion Felicia Spencer. UFC 250 takes place at UFC Apex.

Nunes, already in possession of UFC bantamweight gold, moved to featherweight in December 2018. She faced then-featherweight champion Cris Cyborg in that matchup. Cyborg had not lost a fight since her 2005 debut. She was 20-1-0-1 heading into her matchup with Nunes. The bantamweight champ put a second loss on Cyborg’s record in 51 seconds via knockout and took control of the 145-pound crown in the process.

Spencer joined the UFC roster in May 2019. In November 2018 she won the Invicta FC featherweight title. She moved to the UFC before she got the chance to defend that belt.

The co-headliner of Saturday’s event sees ex-UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt meet Raphael Assuncao in a 135-pound scrap. Garbrandt, who is the No. 9 ranked fighter in the official UFC bantamweight rankings, has losses in his three most recent outings. Assuncao, who is ranked at No. 5 in the bantamweight weight class, has not been in the win column in his two most recent outings. Garbrandt was knocked out in each of his three consecutive defeats. He hasn’t earned a win since he took the 135-pound title from Dominick Cruz in 2016 via decision. Assuncao lost both of his 2019 outings. He has not won a fight since 2018.

UFC 250 takes place tonight at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The main card streams on ESPN+ pay-per-view. ESPN and ESPN+ carry the prelims and ESPN+ and UFC Fight Pass broadcast the early prelims.
